What is CafeCommerce?

CafeCommerce is a hosted ecommerce solution which gives you an online store so that you can start selling physical goods, digital goods, and services. You can easily accept credit cards, manage products, view orders, connect with customers, and customize the store exactly how you want.

How do I install CafeCommerce?

There's nothing to install. Just sign up for a CafeCommerce account and we'll take care of all the setup, installation, hosting, and maintenance. When you sign up, you get a free 14-day trial that you can use to see how CafeCommerce will work for you.

Which countries and currencies does CafeCommerce support?

CafeCommerce supports the following currencies:

  • United States Dollar (USD $)
  • British Pound (GBP £)
  • Euro (EUR €)
  • Canadian Dollar (CAD $)
  • Australian Dollar (AUD $)

CafeCommerce Pricing

How much does CafeCommerce cost?

CafeCommerce has a single pricing plan that includes all the features you will need for only $30/month with no setup fee. Additional fees may apply if you wish to purchase a custom domain and SSL certificate.

How do I pay for CafeCommerce?

You will need a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit card to pay for your store once your trial period has expired.

Designing Your Store

Do I need to be a designer/programmer to customize my store's design?

Absolutely not. CafeCommerce comes with a variety of starting point themes that you can easily customize using the built-in styler. You do not need to know any HTML/CSS or touch any code to make your store look exactly how you want. However, if you are savvy with CSS, CafeCommerce includes and Advanced CSS interface for you to add your own styles or modify existing ones.

Can I make my CafeCommerce store look just like my current website?

Absolutely! Just start with one of our themes and use the built-in styler to modify the fonts, colors, and styles to match your current website. For more unique design changes, use the Advanced CSS interface to add your own custom CSS styles.

Can I import my own custom theme?

Not at this time, but you do have the option to choose from dozens of fantastic themes that you can easily customize yourself! Use the built-in styler to customize the theme with custom colors, pictures, and fonts. For those of you design maestros, you can also write your own custom CSS rules!

Where can I see the themes that are included?

We currently have dozens of fantastic themes strong and growing! You can view as well as customize all the themes from your store's admin panel. Take a look at the available themes in the theme gallery.

Making Your Store Unique

Can I use my own domain instead of the .mycafecommerce one?

You sure can! Once your store is registered and active, simply point the DNS records at your domain registrar to our servers.

Can my store be in a different language?

Well, yes and no. How do you like that for an answer? Okay, let's explain a bit more clearly. You can change the text on the front-end pages of your website to anything you'd like. The only area you will not be able customize at this time is the shopping cart and checkout.

Is there a CafeCommerce demo somewhere?

Well, there is no demo for that, but feel free to sign up for a 14-day free trial (no billing info needed), which will give you a fully functional CafeCommerce site – including the admin panel!

If I sign up for a free trial account, can I use that for the activated store?

Absolutely! The site that you have during your free trial will remain yours after activation. Don't hesitate to start customizing during your free trial – you won't lose any of the work you put into your site after you've activated!

What happens when my trial has expired?

When your trial expires, you'll still have access to your store and won't lose any of the changes that you have made. The only difference is that your store won't be online and accessible to customers. So if you want people to be able to buy stuff from your store, just log into your admin panel and activate. If you're not ready to activate, no problem – it'll be there when you're ready!

How do I cancel my trial?

Well that's simple…you don't! When you sign up for a trial, that's all you sign up for. You are not asked to give any billing information and will not be charged until you activate. Although we won't be billing you if you do not activate, your store will still be there and accessible to you if you decide you want to activate in the future!

Accepting Payments

What methods of payments can my customers use?

Your customers can pay you using a major credit card or PayPal. You can also choose to manually accept payments.

What is a merchant account/payment gateway?

A merchant account is an account held by you at a bank so that you can receive funds from online credit card payments. A payment gateway is a service that processes credit card transactions using your merchant account. Often, a merchant account and payment gateway are set up in one process through the same company.

What merchant accounts/payment gateways does CafeCommerce support?

CafeCommerce supports the following payment services:

  • Authorize.net
  • PayPal Website Pro
  • PayPal Website Standard
  • eWay
  • No payment gateway/merchant account

Can I accept funds without a merchant account?

Yes. You can accept mailed checks or money orders, phone orders, or perhaps have an option to pay for an order in-store.

Orders and Shipments

What do I do when I get an order?

After you are notified that you have received an order, just log into your CafeCommerce admin to view the details of that order. You can then process and ship that order according to your normal business practices.

Which shipping providers can be used for shipping rate lookup?

CafeCommerce supports the following shipping providers:

  • USPS
  • FedEx
  • DHL
  • Canada Post
  • Australia Post
CafeCommerce also includes the ability to create your own custom shipping rules if your shipping provider is not supported.

Can I get someone else to take care of shipping?

Coming soon… CafeCommerce is always upgrading its features and is currently looking at adding support for fulfillment services.
